My friend V was rear-ended by someone texting and driving and going WAY too fast. Fortunately, she and her horse are okay and her boy walked away with a gash and some stitches, but it could have been so much worse. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. There have been way too many accidents involving horses and horse trailers in the past year, several where multiple horses have DIED and it all could have been so easily prevented by people PAYING ATTENTION on the road and not cutting off horse trailers, texting and driving, etc. Horse trailers are huge and have a lot of momentum, we can’t stop quickly if you cut us off and then have to slam on your breaks, we have to stop slowly so if you’re behind us please keep that in mind as well. We don’t mean to be “the slow driver” on the road but we have living, breathing animals in our trailer that are precious to us and that are trying to balance while they stand the entire drive. Our horses are like our children, our babies, and we take their safety very seriously. Please be considerate when out on the roads with us! If you follow me (and even if you don’t) I and other horse people would really appreciate a reblog or even a ‘like’ just to show you acknowledge this message. I can’t even begin to describe how terrifying it is to drive a truck and trailer sometimes and my heart stopped when I saw this photo show up on Facebook today. I was expecting the worst and it’s a horrifying thing to imagine. I would have went bat shit crazy if that were me! So glad the horse and people are okay.
